Rural Teaching Position Opening

Drewsey Elementary is located 40 miles west of Burns, Oregon. The school consists of 2 classrooms with Grades K–8 in a remote ranching community with very small multi-grade class sizes.  Drewsey Elementary is one of seven frontier K-8 schoolhouses in Harney County.

Job Description:

Job Overview:

• Maintain high expectations for student academic success and conduct
• Collaborate closely with fellow teacher
• Differentiate instruction effectively to meet the individual needs of students
• Be a master at classroom management and building meaningful relationships
• Participate actively in professional development
• Communicate frequently with parents
• Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
• Self-motivated and organized 
• Performs other duties as assigned
• School began August 25th and operates on a four-day school week ,with a Friday each  month used for teacher planning and professional development

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Ability to live and work in a rural, remote ranching community
• Valid Oregon Teaching Certification or the ability to obtain one
• Experience in teaching in a multi-grade classroom is preferred but not required

Salary and Benefits:

• Based on previous experience and placement on a very competitive salary schedule
