Position Title: Virtual School Mental Health Counselor
Location: Hybrid (Work from Home/Office)

Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Virtual School Mental Health Counselor to provide virtual counseling and mental health support to students in our online school community. As a Virtual School Mental Health Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic well-being of students by offering individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and preventative education services. You will collaborate with educators, parents, and other support staff to ensure students receive the care and resources needed to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Counseling and Support: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students via virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet etc.) to address mental health concerns, emotional well-being, and behavioral challenges.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to students in crisis, providing immediate support and connecting them with appropriate resources or referrals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other mental health professionals to develop and implement personalized support plans for students.
- Resource Development: Create and deliver mental health education and awareness programs, workshops, and resources to students, families, and staff.
- Confidentiality & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, progress, and treatment plans.
- Parental Support: Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress, mental health needs, and resources available.
- Advocacy: Advocate for students' mental health needs within the school system to ensure their emotional well-being is prioritized.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on best practices in school counseling and mental health support.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent. Preference given to School Counseling License.
- Proven experience providing mental health counseling in a school setting, preferably in a virtual or remote environment.
- Knowledge of virtual counseling platforms, online learning environments, and tools for delivering remote services.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build rapport with students and their families.
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing teletherapy or virtual counseling services.
- Knowledge of school-based mental health programs and services.
- Familiarity with evidence-based interventions and trauma-informed care.
- Experience working with K-12 students in a virtual school environment.
