PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to provide equitable opportunities to rural schools who have requested music instruction in order to enrich their students exposure to music instruction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work collaboratively under the direct supervision of certificated teachers in implementation of music instruction. This could include, but is not limited to, instrument instruction, reading music, and assisting with musical programs including song and dance.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS: This position will follow the Harney Education Service District along with school year calendars for the schools you are supporting.
- Typically work will begin in August and be completed at the end of May.
- You will work with teachers in setting a schedule to be in districts. This may require days where you are leaving early and/or returning late.
- Evening work will be required; most often once each evening in the Fall, Winter and Spring for music programs/concerts. This is subject to change upon collaboration with the school staff that you are supporting.
- Rate of pay is dependent upon qualifications and within the scope of grant requirements. Benefits are prorated to the position fte.

- Content knowledge of music instruction both instrumental and vocal.
- Familiarity with a variety of age appropriate instructional strategies for engaging learners.
- Familiarity with state standards and curriculum frameworks for music instruction/arts education.
- Ability to differentiate instruction.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.
- Ability to work collaboratively in order to support teacher plans and proposals.
- Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.

- This position is primarily performed indoors in school buildings, although some outdoor instruction and supervision may be required.
- This position involves working in close proximity to groups of students and adults.
- Evening and/or extended work hours may be required.
- This is a part time position. You are an employee of Harney Education Service District through the Rural School Integrated Guidance Consortium. You will work in a number of school districts.
- You will use a Harney Education Service District vehicle for traveling to and from schools you are supporting.
